JUDGES

Chairman of Judges – Sue Craven

Sue started her career in 1985 working for Spencer Stuart.  In 1990 she founded Armstrong Craven Ltd in the North West of England.  The London office of Armstrong Craven opened in 2003 and the first international office in New York in April 2007.  In October 2005 Sue successfully sold Armstrong Craven to Work Communications Ltd, a company which went on to float on AIM in March 2006 and is now known as Work Group plc.  In January 2007 Sue was invited to join the Board of Work Group plc as Group Managing Director responsible for two of the four divisions in the Group.  In September 2009 she left the Work Group. 

Sue then continued to undertake a number of Non Executive Director roles in both corporate and charity settings.   

In June 2013 Sue, along with the current leadership team of Armstrong Craven, led a Management Buyout of Armstrong Craven from Work Group backed by the Private Equity House ISIS.  Sue is now Executive Chair of Armstrong Craven.

Judge – Isabelle Hung

With over fifteen years within the Resourcing and Recruitment industry, Isabelle has designed and implemented some of the UK’s most innovative and successful resourcing solutions. She is one of the few resourcing professionals that have 360 degree experience of all disciplines, from contingency to search, PR to recruitment advertising and RPO to in-house.  Izzey is currently Global Head of Talent Acquisition at Alexander Mann Solutions (AMS).

Judge – Jocelyn Buxton

Jocelyn Buxton has led the way in independent executive research services since 1990.  Having trained in research with Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) and Fisher Dillistone, Jocelyn went on to found her own business servicing most of the top search firms as well as boutiques and some corporates.  Her commitment to her clients and passion for her work is shown by a repeat business rate of over 90% and she has continued to work with all her ex-employers.  She is a founding member and committee member of the Executive Research Association.

Jocelyn has a wealth of experience, from senior management to board level,, working across a broad range of functions, including general management, sales and marketing, finance, legal and commercial, operations and human resources.  She has worked in most markets and has particular expertise in consumer facing businesses including retail, consumer goods, manufacturing, luxury and media.  She also has experience in retail financial services including general insurance and in the public sector.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Candidates will nominate themselves, supplying references to support their application.  All application forms must be sent either in writing to the address below or by email to the Membership Secretary Sarah El-Rasoul sarah@theera.org.  All applications will be treated with the upmost confidentiality.

  • Nominees can only submit one application.  This must include examples of three assignments which must be validated by the individual for whom the work was undertaken, including name, job title and contact details.  If all three assignments have been undertaken for the same individual the nominee must provide an additional reference from one other referee for example a Line Manager. **  Nominations which do not meet these requirements will not be considered.
  • Nominees can be self-employed, within a research firm, within an executive search firm or in-house in a corporate organisation.
  • Applications must be submitted by end February 2014.   Once an application has been submitted the Membership Secretary will remove identifying details and give it a unique coding before submitting it to the Judges.

**Please note the top 3 shortlisted nominee’s referees may be contacted but this will not be done without the nominee’s prior consent.

JUDGING CRITERIA

In evaluation the Judges consider the research results as well as the research process, evidence of the five evaluation criteria listed below is required.

  1. Service Offering
    Demonstrate research results achieved with proved service, best practice and measure outcome; for example: mapping & candidate development, pipelining and succession planning, competency screening, insight and analysis & competitor intelligence.
  2. Creativity
    Demonstrate high levels of lateral thinking providing initial consulting and diagnostic capability showing understanding of the client need and advising on the appropriate solution.
  3. Professionalism
    Demonstrate a transparent research process, utilising best practice methods and techniques reinforcing credibility in the quality and accuracy of information provided.
  4. International
    Demonstrate the global reach of their work across both geographies and cultures.
  5. Outcome
    Examples of outcomes achieved, including client collaboration and influencing, commitment to the task and return on investment.
